Text Box: THE MEYER ROOM
George F. and Ida Meyer were prominent community members who built and lived in The Dorsey at the turn of the 19th Century. George was a successful lumberman and community leader. Ida was a graduate of the Platteville Normal School.
THE BILLINGS ROOM
The Billings were longest home owners and residents (24 years) of The Dorsey. John and Adeline were parents of Ann, who married Dr. Wilson Cunningham, a notable Platteville leader.
THE BRIGHAM ROOM
Agnes Brigham is a legend at the University in the community. As the first university female physical education instructor, she brought men's and women's basketball to the campus and founded Girl Scouts in Platteville. Brigham Hall on the UW-P campus is named after her. She owned and lived in The Dorsey for twenty years.
THE CUNNINGHAM ROOM
Ann Billings Cunningham, daughter of John and Adeline Billings, served on the Board of Regents for the University of Wisconsin system. In 1900 she married Dr. Cunningham. Their daughter, Ann, married William Hoard, Jr. of Hoard's Dairyman magazine, son of a former Wisconsin Governor.
THE DORSEY ROOM
Arlene Dorsey Siss is the current owner and resident. She is a community leader who has been instrumental in forming and developing organizations that have benefited the area, e.g. Habitat for Humanity, Mitchell Rountree Stone Cottage, John Rountree Home Owners Association, etc.
